Frequently Asked Questions:
What are hand wraps used for?
Hand wraps are used to provide support and protection to the bones, joints, and soft tissues of the hand and wrist during combat sports training and competition. They help prevent injuries such as sprains, fractures, and contusions by distributing impact forces and stabilizing the wrist.
How long should hand wraps be?
The length of hand wraps can vary, but 180 inches is a common and versatile length that provides ample coverage for most adult hands and wrists, offering a good balance between support and mobility. Shorter wraps might be suitable for individuals with smaller hands or those who prefer a less bulky feel.
What is the difference between elastic and cotton hand wraps?
Elastic hand wraps, like these Revgear Pro Elastic Hand Wraps, offer a snugger, more conforming fit due to their stretch material. They are often preferred for their ability to provide consistent compression and a streamlined feel. Traditional cotton wraps are less stretchy and may require more effort to achieve a secure fit, but they can be very durable.
How do I properly wrap my hands?
Proper hand wrapping technique is crucial for effective protection. It typically involves wrapping around the knuckles, between the fingers, around the wrist, and over the back of the hand. Many instructional videos and guides are available online to demonstrate the correct methods for different disciplines.
Are these hand wraps suitable for beginners?
Yes, these Pro Elastic Hand Wraps are suitable for beginners as well as experienced athletes. Their ease of use with the hook and loop closure and the secure fit they provide make them a great choice for anyone starting their martial arts or combat sports journey.
